What Diffscroll knows about you.

Nothing. That is the short version, and the rest of this page is only the detail behind it.

The application

Diffscroll reads Git repositories on your computer and draws them in a window. It is read-only: it does not stage, commit, modify, or delete anything in a repository it opens.

It has no network client compiled into it. There is no account, no sign-in, no telemetry, no usage analytics, no crash reporting, and no automatic update check. Your code, your file paths, and your repository names stay on your machine because there is no mechanism in the application to send them anywhere.

Your settings, such as the keyboard bindings you change, are stored on your own computer. Uninstalling removes what the installer placed.

This website

This site has no accounts, no forms, no cookies, and no analytics or tracking scripts. It sets nothing in your browser to identify you.

It is served by a hosting provider, and downloads are served by GitHub. Both keep ordinary server logs of requests made to them, in the way every web host does, and those logs are governed by their policies rather than by this one. Following a download link means asking GitHub for a file, and GitHub sees that request.

What is never done

Nothing collected here is sold, rented, or shared, because nothing is collected. There is no advertising, no profiling, and no third party receiving data about you from Diffscroll.

Changes

If Diffscroll ever gains a feature that sends anything anywhere, this page will say what it sends and why before that feature ships, and it will be something you choose rather than something on by default.
